The Hometown Foundation is an organization that has worked with people living with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Over the years, the foundation has contributed to raising millions of dollars to break stereotypes surrounding people with disabilities while funding developmental initiatives for this demographic. The Dream Ride Experience is a major event that the foundation funds to ensure the acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities while dispelling stereotypes about them.
The first edition of the Dream Ride Experience began in 2001 as an expression of hope and an optimistic vision for people living with intellectual disabilities. Since then, it has raised over $25 million for the Hometown Foundation, Inc.
The Dream Ride Experience has a track record of displaying and showcasing the many abilities of people with intellectual disabilities. The event comprises different activities like Saturday’s Dream Ride and the Dream Cruise. The Saturday’s Dream Ride is a police-escorted motorcycle tour that goes through Farmington, Connecticut. On the other hand, the Dream Cruise is a 17-mile cruise where drivers pair up with Dream Riders to drive into a red carpet entrance.
